Before we go into detail about Loki himself, we want to emphasize that this decision has absolutely nothing to do with him. Loki has been with us for only 4 months, and during this time, he has brought us endless joy. However, due to unexpected health circumstances in our family, we can no longer provide him with the time and energy he requires. This has been a truly heartbreaking decision, made with only his best interests at heart. We brought Loki into our family at 11 weeks old and have dedicated so much time and love to his care and training. He’s truly a star dog. Because of this, we are committed to being extremely careful in choosing his next family. We want Loki to have the most amazing life with people who will cherish him, love him, and give him all he needs and more. Meet Loki Breed: Blue Merle Tri Border Collie Breeder: Clijsters Johan Age: 6 months (born 18th July) Health: Loki is healthy, up to date on all vaccinations, worming, and flea treatments. He has his rabies vaccine. He is not neutered, as we wanted to give him the best chance to grow into a confident adult. He has a Passport. Diet: Loki is on a raw food diet, which costs approximately €70 per month. This diet has been fantastic for his health and coat, and we’d like for it to be continued, as kibble hasn’t agreed with his digestive system. Loki doesn't descend from pedigree parents so that diminishes the necessary tests severely. The 4 grandparents have been tested by radio for HD and ED, and were all ok. But the parents themselves haven't been tested by RX pictures, as they've never shown any signs indicating they need it. Loki’s Personality and Training: Cuddly and Fun: Loki loves soft bedding, cuddles, and being close to his humans. He’s a true snuggle bug who enjoys curling up on the sofa or bed with his own blanket. Slightly Shy: He can be a little nervous around new people, especially men, due to his current environment. However, with patience and space, he warms up quickly—especially to women. Energetic: As a Border Collie, Loki has plenty of energy but doesn’t display strong herding instincts (his line hasn’t been herders for a few generations). He loves running, playing, and playing fetch with his ball. Good with Cats: Loki has grown up with our indoor deaf cat and does well with cats. He’s curious and playful when they’re active but needs supervision to ensure calm interactions. Great with Other Dogs: Loki loves playing with other dogs and thrives on socialization. He’s not dominant and gets along well with all dogs unless one is overly assertive, then he will leave to find a new buddy to play with or come to me for reassurance. Training and Behavior: We’ve focused heavily on obedience training to ensure Loki’s safety in busier areas. Here’s what he’s learned so far: - Fully house-trained - Excellent recall (although still a work in progress, as expected for his age) - Loose-leash walking - Comfortable in a crate (he can sleep there at night or stay calmly when left alone for short periods) Loki is 6 months old and entering a phase where he’s testing boundaries, but with continued reinforcement, we’re confident he’ll remain a well-behaved and responsive dog. What Loki Needs in a Home A Rural or Countryside Environment: He gets a little anxious around very busy roads and sudden city noises, but is continuing to improve with the desensitization training we do, but due to this i think a quieter home would suit him best. A farm or garden home would be ideal, as he loves being outdoors and watching the world go by. An Experienced Family: Someone familiar with working breeds like Border Collies or Shepherds would be ideal to meet his physical and mental needs. An Active Lifestyle: Loki loves running, playing, and even running alongside a bicycle (we’ve introduced this gradually to desensitize him, but only in short bursts due to his age). A Loving, Patient Home: Loki thrives on attention and affection. He would do wonderfully with someone who enjoys cuddles as much as he does. While he doesn’t have any issues with children, due to his young age and energetic nature, a home without very young kids would likely be a better fit. A Few Quirks: - Loki has the cutest habit of howling softly when he stretches after a nap. - He’s a big fan of plush toys but tends to shred them, so durable bones and tug toys are his go-to. - He barks when surprised by people at night or when the doorbell rings—a good deterrent but something to be mindful of. Rehoming Details: We are asking a rehoming fee that is less than what we paid for him but still quite high. This is non-negotiable, as we want only serious adopters who are financially prepared to give Loki the best possible life.
